What if I tell you that 15 minutes is all it takes for you to be more productive? It is all it takes for you to be more efficient? It is all it takes for you to organise your thoughts, work and mind? A majority of us keep complaining “I don’t have enough time!” “I can’t reach my goals because of lack of time” “I can’t complete my degree because I’m busy with work”.
All of us have to keep one thing in mind. The labourer working under the scorching sun has 24 hours. A white-collared worker has 24 hours. Our Prime Minister has 24 hours. Brad Pitt has 24 hours. Obama has 24 hours. I have 24 hours and you have 24 hours. What makes the difference between people who make it, and people who only aspire to make it, is how they choose to use time.
So let’s cut to the chase and get to the interesting bit.
How do you become more efficient in just 15 minutes?
At the end of each day, (work day or weekend) set aside 15 minutes to do your planning for the next day. List down all the tasks that need to be completed.
Why do this at the end of the day and not the beginning of the next day?
Before you leave office, your mind can easily remember all that needs to be done since the day is just over. If you wait till the next day, you may forget and the list may not be complete.
When you senter office the next day, you may get caught up with work, your boss or some emails before you can even have the opportunity to plan for the next 12 hours.
When you enter the office, read your to-do list, and immediately know what needs to be done, instead of fire-fighting all the time.
Do not procrastinate and do not take time for granted. Everything that is on this list NEEDS to be completed, otherwise we may lose the seriousness of the plan.
Remember, time waits for no man / woman.
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Start your 15 minute plan today! All the best!
